About Olethreutes arcuella (Clerck, 1759)
Olethreutes arcuella (Clerck, 1759) is a medium-sized moth species with a wingspan ranging from 14 to 18 millimeters. The forewings of this moth have an orange-rufous base color, marked with yellow patches, several metallic blue-grey or silver streaks, and a broad black marking across the middle that contains a row of three small silver spots. Its hindwings are brown in color. The caterpillars of this species are purplish-gray to violet-brown, with yellowish-brown heads. This species closely resembles Olethreutes subtilana, but differs by having noticeably narrower wings. This moth can be found across most of Europe, the eastern Palearctic realm, and the Near East. It typically lives in woodland, fields, hill pasture, and heaths.
