About Olearia rani (A.Cunn.) Druce

Olearia rani, commonly called heketara in te reo Māori, is a widespread small forest tree native to New Zealand. It occurs in lowland forests across the entire North Island, and across the northern half of the South Island. The nominate variety Olearia rani var. rani has a more northerly distribution compared to Olearia rani var. colorata; the latter variety grows in forests from the Coromandel Peninsula south to the Buller River. The leaves of this tree have white undersides and prominent veins. In spring, it produces clusters of small white flowers.
