About Oenanthe albonigra (Hume, 1872)
Hume's wheatear, scientifically named Oenanthe albonigra (Hume, 1872), is a large wheatear species. It has dark black head and back that contrast sharply with a pure white breast and belly, and both males and females share this same color pattern. It closely resembles the male 'picata' form of Variable wheatear, but has several key distinguishing features: Hume's wheatear is larger in size, has a more substantial bill, and longer wings. Additionally, on Hume's wheatear, black coloration is only found on the head and throat, and white coloration extends further up the back.
