About Oedemera podagrariae (Linnaeus, 1767)

Oedemera podagrariae (Linnaeus, 1767) adult beetles reach a length of 7–12 millimetres (0.28–0.47 in). They are most commonly found from April through August, where they feed on pollen and nectar. This species has a black head. The thorax is black in males and yellow in females. The elytra may be yellow, ochre-coloured, or light brown, and sometimes have darker edges. Legs are entirely yellow, or at least partially yellow. Like most species in the Oedemera genus, male Oedemera podagrariae have very swollen hind femora, while females have thin hind femora. These beetles are distributed across most of Europe and the Near East.
