Odontomyia hunteri (Macleay, 1826) is an Australian species of soldier fly that belongs to the family Stratiomyidae. The original type specimen of this insect was collected by Captain King. In 1826, Alexander Macleay described and named the species, in honour of James Hunter, who served as surgeon on the ship Mermaid. This species is distributed across Australia.
