About Ocypode saratan (Forskål, 1775)

Ocypode saratan, commonly called the Red Sea ghost crab, is a medium to large-sized species of ghost crab in the genus Ocypode. This species is very common in the Red Sea, and it is one of only two Ocypode species known to occur in this region. The other species, O. cordimanus (the smooth-handed ghost crab), has also been recorded in the Red Sea, but only rarely. Ocypode saratan is also found from Madagascar, across the Indian Ocean, and into the Western Pacific. The eyestalks of this species carry styles.
