About Ochina ptinoides (Marsham, 1802)

Ochina ptinoides (Marsham, 1802) individuals reach a length of approximately 2.5 to 3.5 millimetres (0.098 to 0.138 inches). Its elytra are dark brown, and its pubescence forms transverse bands before the middle and apex of the elytra. The head is also dark brown. The antennae are serrate and made up of eleven segments. This species is associated with ivy, which is reflected in its common name. Its larvae bore into ivy stems. Adult Ochina ptinoides can be found from early May through August. This species occurs across most of Europe, as well as in the Near East and North Africa.
