About Occidozyga martensii (Peters, 1867)

Occidozyga martensii, commonly known as the round-tongued floating frog, is a species of frog belonging to the family Dicroglossidae. Some taxonomic treatments suggest that Occidozyga magnapustulosus, a frog found in scattered locations across northern Thailand and Laos, may be classified as part of this species. The round-tongued floating frog occurs across most of Indochina. It has been recorded in Cambodia, southern China including Yunnan, Guangxi, Guangdong, and Hainan, Laos, northern peninsular Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam, and may also be present in Myanmar. Its natural habitats include subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest, rivers, intermittent rivers, swamps, freshwater marshes, intermittent freshwater marshes, ponds, irrigated land, canals, and ditches.
