About Oberea linearis (Linnaeus, 1761)

Oberea linearis is a species of beetle belonging to the family Cerambycidae. Carl Linnaeus first described this species in 1761, when it was originally classified under the genus Cerambyx. It has a broad distribution across all of Europe. This beetle is preyed on by Opilo pallidus, and acts as a host for two species of parasitic wasp: Dolichomitus messor and Phaenolobus terebrator. Its recorded host plants for feeding include Juglans regia, Corylus avellana, Ulmus glabra, Ostrya carpinifolia, and Carpinus betulus. One recognized varietas within this species is Oberea linearis var. parallela. Adult Oberea linearis range in size from 11 to 14 mm, which is equal to 0.43 to 0.55 inches.
