About Nuxia congesta R.Br.

Nuxia congesta, commonly known as brittle-wood, is a tree species belonging to the Stilbaceae family, and it has a wide distribution across the Afrotropics. Its scientific specific epithet congesta refers to the species' dense inflorescences. This tree is native to Eswatini, South Africa, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and extends north through tropical Africa to Ethiopia and southern Arabia. It can also be found on islands in the Gulf of Guinea. It grows as part of woodland, bushveld, or grassland communities, and also occurs along forest edges. It has a noted preference for growing on rocky terrain and cliff ledges.
