About Notostira elongata (Geoffroy, 1785)
This species, scientifically named Notostira elongata (Geoffroy, 1785), has an adult body length of 7.5–8.0 millimetres (0.30–0.31 inches). Adults are yellowish-green, and have a longitudinal furrow between the eyes. The pronotum of Notostira elongata is unpunctured and smooth, which differs from similar-looking Stenoderma species that are often found in the same regions and habitats and have pitted pronotums. Dense dark hairs are present on both the first antennal segment and the rear tibiae of Notostira elongata. In terms of ecology, this species produces two generations per year. Females change colour in the fall, becoming pinker, and also grow larger. Both males and females mate during winter, after which egg development takes place in spring.
