About Notogrammitis angustifolia (Jacq.) Parris
Notogrammitis angustifolia (Jacq.) Parris can be distinguished by several key features: it typically has an erect to short-creeping rhizome, narrow linear winged glabrous fronds that are less than 7 mm wide and up to 130 mm long, no distinct stipes, no hairs within the sori, and sori that are often more or less parallel to the midrib. Its sporangia grow in groups on either side of the midrib. Different sources report different maximum lengths for the fronds: some state fronds reach up to 130 mm, while others report they are less than 100 mm long. This species occurs in New Zealand from sea level up to 1400 m, growing on both the main islands and outlying islands. It can grow as an epiphyte, a lithophyte, or in subalpine scrub. Ecologically, this species grows as an epiphyte on Dracophyllum in New Zealand, on Olearia in Tasmania, and on the stems of Bog Ferns and Island Trees on Tristan da Cunha and Gough Island.
