About Notobryon wardi Odhner, 1936
Notobryon wardi is a medium-sized nudibranch that can grow up to 50 mm in length, and has a smooth body. Its body is reddish-brown, with iridescent blue-green spots covering its sides and back. Its smooth rhinophores are each surrounded by a cup-like sheath. Two sets of wispy gills sit between flattened lobes that extend out from the body. This species occurs along the South African coast, ranging from Elands Bay to Jeffreys Bay. It is most commonly found in intertidal areas, but has also been recorded at depths down to 20 meters. Notobryon wardi feeds on hydroids. When it is disturbed, it can swim by making lateral movements of its body.
