About Nososticta coelestina (Tillyard, 1906)
Nososticta coelestina is an Australian damselfly species belonging to the family Platycnemididae. It is commonly known by the common name the green-blue threadtail. This species is typically found living near rivers and streams. Adult individuals are medium-sized damselflies, measuring 35 to 40 millimeters in body length, with a wingspan roughly matching their body length. Males have a black thorax marked with bright greenish-blue patterning, while females have a pale brown thorax. The abdomen is dark, and features narrow pale bands between each of its segments. The wings carry a yellow or lemon tint. Within Australia, this species occupies suitable habitat across the northern and eastern parts of the continent, ranging from the Top End of the Northern Territory to central Queensland. This taxon is currently listed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.
