About Norape virgo (Butler, 1877)

Norape virgo is a moth species belonging to the Megalopygidae family. It was first described by Arthur Gardiner Butler in 1877. This species has a distribution ranging from southern Texas and southern Arizona in the United States down to Colombia. Adult Norape virgo are similar in appearance to Norape walkeri, but are smaller in size. Compared to Norape walkeri, their forewings are shorter, broader, and less glossy. The larvae of this moth feed on legumes.
