Nigella gallica Jord. is a flowering plant species in the family Ranunculaceae. It is an annual native to southwestern Europe, occurring in Portugal, Spain (including the Baleares), and France, and it is typically found in the subtropical zone. Seed coat morphology analysis shows it is a sister taxon to Nigella segetalis (a species from the Black Sea area), and both are distinct from other members of their genus.
