Nicotiana obtusifolia, commonly known as desert tobacco, is a species of flowering plant in the Solanaceae family. It is native to the southwestern United States, ranging from California to Utah to Texas, and to Mexico. This plant is a woody perennial herb that reaches a maximum height of around 80 centimeters (31 inches). Its leaf blades can grow up to 10 centimeters (4 inches) long: lower leaves grow on short petioles, while upper leaves are smaller and clasp the stem. The flowers are funnel-shaped, white or tinged with green, and have a tubular throat that can be up to 2.6 centimeters (1 inch) long. Its native habitats include sandy areas and washes.
