About Nicator gularis Hartlaub & Finsch, 1870
The eastern nicator, with the scientific name Nicator gularis, is a species of songbird that belongs to the family Nicatoridae. It is found in Eswatini, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Somalia, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Its natural habitats include subtropical or tropical dry forests, dry savanna, and subtropical or tropical moist shrubland. In South Africa, its range extends south to around Mtunzini in northern KwaZulu-Natal. It is regularly recorded in lowland areas, and can be found from these lowlands north through east Africa, including inland areas along the Zambezi River. This species was formerly known as the "yellow-spotted nicator", but this common name is no longer used for it. Today, the name "yellow-spotted nicator" refers exclusively to the central African western nicator.
