About Neurothemis terminata Ris, 1911

Neurothemis terminata, commonly called the red-winged dragonfly, is a dragonfly species that belongs to the family Libellulidae. This species is widespread, often common, and can live in man-made habitats. Its known range extends from Peninsular Malaysia, the Philippines, and Japan south to the Lesser Sundas in Indonesia. Males of this species have red bodies and red wings, while females have a yellowish body color. Adult individuals of Neurothemis terminata reach a body length of 8 to 11 centimeters. Entomologists have made the first recorded observation of an eight-legged individual of this red-winged dragonfly in the Pilibhit Tiger Reserve, located in Uttar Pradesh, India.
