About Neuroterus numismalis (Fourcroy, 1785)

Neuroterus numismalis is a species of gall wasp that induces leaf galls to form on oak trees through chemical action. This species has both a bisexual generation and an agamic (parthenogenetic) generation, and it produces two distinct types of galls on oak leaves: the silk button gall and the blister gall. These galls can occur in very large numbers, with more than one thousand galls developing on a single leaf.
