Nerita chamaeleon Linnaeus, 1758 has a small shell that reaches a maximum size of 25 mm. Individuals of this species are colorful, and are commonly found on intertidal rocky shores. They are active at night. This snail occurs on rocks, breakwaters, and seawalls across multiple locations in Singapore: Pulau Ubin, Changi, Tanah Merah, Marina South, Labrador, Sentosa, Pulau Bukom, St. John's Island, Pulau Hantu, Pulau Semakau, Pulau Salu, and Tuas. It is also found in the Godavari region of India, and in the Andaman Sea off southern Thailand.
