About Nerita albicilla Linnaeus, 1758
Nerita albicilla Linnaeus, 1758 can grow up to 4 cm in size. Its shell surface is either smooth or bears slight transverse ridges, and it has small pustules and four weak teeth on the columella. The outer surface of the shell is variegated black and white, and occasionally marked with three conspicuous bands. The interior of the shell is white, and it has a pinkish-grey, granular operculum. This species is distributed across the tropical Indo-Pacific region, including Aldabra, Australia, the Chagos Archipelago, the East Coast of South Africa, Kenya, Madagascar, the Mascarene Basin, Mauritius, Mozambique, the Red Sea, Seychelles, and Tanzania. It inhabits rocky cliffs and rocks in the littoral fringe, and is sometimes found growing on mangrove trees.
