About Nepenthes vieillardii Hook.fil.

Nepenthes vieillardii Hook.fil. is a species of pitcher plant. It is named after Eugène Vieillard, who collected plants from New Caledonia and Tahiti between 1861 and 1867. This species is endemic to the island of New Caledonia, and its range is the furthest east of any Nepenthes species. It grows naturally in shrublands and forests at altitudes up to around 900 metres, or 3,000 feet. Tripteroides caledonicus mosquitoes breed in the pitchers of this plant.
