About Neoscythris fissirostris Meyrick, 1928
Neoscythris fissirostris is a species of moth in the family Scythrididae. This species was first described by Edward Meyrick in 1928. It is found in North America, with confirmed records from the U.S. states of Arizona, California, Kansas, New Mexico, and Texas. The wingspan of adult Neoscythris fissirostris ranges from 10 to 15 mm. Its forewings are grey, with a moderately sized white median streak that runs from the wing base to between two-thirds and three-quarters of the wing length. This streak is crossed by a fine line along the wing fold, it is sometimes partially bordered by dark fuscous suffusion, and dark fuscous spots (the plical and second discal stigmata) often appear on its lower margin and at its apex respectively. The costal edge of the forewing is white, except in the area close to the base. The rest of the forewing varies from having scattered white markings to being suffusedly streaked with white. The hindwings of the moth are solid grey.
