About Neopetrolisthes maculatus (H.Milne-Edwards, 1837)

Neopetrolisthes maculatus has a round, smooth central body, with a porcelain-like shell. It is colorful, covered with numerous small red spots. Ecologically, this species is typically found living on several species of large sea anemones. Each anemone usually hosts a single pair of these crabs. The stinging tentacles of the host anemone protect the crabs from potential predators, and the crabs are territorial over their host anemone.
