About Nemesia cheiranthus E.Mey. ex Benth.
Nemesia cheiranthus, commonly called long-eared nemesia, is an annual plant native to South Africa. It produces white and yellow flowers, which occasionally have purple markings. Its upper petals are long and thin. The yellow lower flower lip has two typically orange bulbous protuberances, and the lower lip may be centrally indented. This species has toothed, lance-shaped leaves, and usually grows to a height of 40 cm (16 in). It is mainly distributed in Namaqualand, where it grows on sandy soils. It is a popular garden plant that has two main cultivars: 'Shooting Stars' and 'Masquerade'.
