About Nembrotha kubaryana Bergh, 1877

Description: This species can grow to a total length of over 120 mm. It is a large nudibranch with a dark body. Individuals may have green stripes running along the full length of the body, or green raised spots. The edge of the foot and the edge of the head are bright red-orange. Its rhinophores and gills can be either red or green. Nembrotha kubaryana is often easily mistaken for the closely related species Nembrotha cristata, but Nembrotha cristata does not have the red-orange border on its foot that marks Nembrotha kubaryana. Distribution: This nudibranch is found in the tropical Western Indo-Pacific region. Ecology: This species, also called the variable neon slug, feeds on ascidians, and has been recorded feeding on the green-ringed ascidian Sigillina signifera.
