About Nematopogon robertella (Clerck, 1759)

This species of moth has a wingspan of 14–16 mm. It is a brown-grey moth with long antennae. The antennae are wire-shaped and white; in males, they are about three times the length of the forewing, while in females they are about twice as long. The head is brownish and not yellow. The body and forewings are brownish grey. Dark wings have a distinct mesh pattern extending from the wing base, and this clear mesh pattern across the entire forewing surface is the most defining characteristic of the species. There is also a diffuse bright spot at the tornus. The wings and hindwings are rather dark grey. The larva is white, with a slight yellowish or reddish tint.
