About Nematopogon adansoniella (de Villiers, 1789)

Nematopogon adansoniella is a species of moth in the Adelidae family. This species is found in Europe. It has a wingspan of 17 to 19 millimeters. Adult moths of this species fly from late April through June, with timing varying by location. The larvae of Nematopogon adansoniella feed on Fagus sylvatica, oak, Prunos spinosa, and bilberry. The synonym Tinea panzerella was mistakenly also used for the species Pseudatemelia subochreella. To definitively identify a species belonging to the genus Nematopogon, it is necessary to dissect and examine the specimen's genitalia.
