Nemacaulis is a monotypic plant genus in the buckwheat family, containing only one species: Nemacaulis denudata Nutt. This species has two common names: woollyheads and cottonheads. It is a relatively unnoticeable, delicate annual herb, with thin, spindly, bare stems and woolly white flowerheads. It grows in sandy habitats across California, Arizona, and northern Mexico.
