About Navarretia leptalea (A.Gray) L.A.Johnson
Navarretia leptalea, previously classified as Gilia leptalea, is a flowering plant species in the phlox family. Its common name is Bridges' pincushionplant. This species is native to the Sierra Nevada and the southern Cascade Range, which span California and Oregon. In this region, it grows to form colorful carpet-like stands in mountain meadows. It produces glandular stems that bear leaves shaped linearly or as narrow ovals. A small cluster of one or more funnel-shaped pink flowers with long, narrow throats forms at the tip of each short stem.
