About Navarretia intertexta (Benth.) Hook.
Navarretia intertexta (Benth.) Hook. is a species of flowering plant in the phlox family, commonly called needleleaf pincushionplant. This species is native to western North America, where it grows across most of the western United States and ranges north into the Midwest. It can grow in many different habitat types, including moist meadows and vernal pools. It is a hairy annual herb that reaches roughly 28 centimeters in length, growing either erect or spreading to become wider than it is tall. Its leaves are divided into many needle-like lobes. The inflorescence forms a head of flowers lined with leaf-like bracts that also have needle-shaped lobes, and the inflorescence is often covered in a layer of dense hairs. The individual flowers are white to light blue in color and have a tubular shape.
