It is a species of bird belonging to the family Pellorneidae. It occurs naturally in Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, India, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest, and subtropical or tropical moist montane forest.
