About Nannophlebia risi Tillyard, 1913

Common archtails, the common name for Nannophlebia risi, are small dragonflies with a total length of 35 to 40 millimeters and a wingspan of 50 to 60 millimeters. Their abdomen is black, marked with small yellow bands or patches, is arched, and has swollen segments toward the end. Their synthorax is black, marked with large yellowish or greenish patches. Their wings are hyaline, with brown markings on the inner third. According to a reference field guide, this species is distributed across the Northern Territory, Queensland excluding northern Cape York, coastal New South Wales, and coastal Victoria. Common archtails inhabit streams and rivers, and their larvae live near gravel or stones. This taxon has been assessed as least concern on the IUCN Red List.
