About Nagusta goedelii (Kolenati, 1856)

Nagusta goedelii can reach a body length of approximately 12.5–16.3 mm (0.49–0.64 in). Its body is slender, slightly hairy, and ranges in color from yellow to cinnamon-brown. Some darker specimens may be brown or reddish, with greenish veins. The head is more than twice as long as it is wide, and has protruding ocelli. Two characteristic horn-like thorns are present just behind the antennae. The antennae match the body color, with lighter colored rings. The posterior lobe of the head ends in a cylindrical neck. The pronotum is almost hexagonal, and bears two broad, rounded apophyses shaped like an obtuse cone. The diameter of the anterior femurs is at least three times the diameter of the mid and posterior femurs, while all tibiae are of the same thickness. This species is found in Central and Southern Europe (including Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, European Turkey, France, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Republic of Moldova, North Macedonia, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine, and former Yugoslavia), and in the Middle East. In the east, its distribution extends as far as Iran. These insects appear to be expanding their range from the east toward more western and northern areas.
