About Mythimna pallens Linnaeus, 1758

This species has a wingspan ranging from 32 to 40 millimeters. Its forewings are yellowish ochreous, often with a rufous, or reddish, tint. The veins are pale, outlined by grey-brown streaks, and similar streaks also appear in the spaces between the veins. Dark spots are present on veins 2 and 5 beyond the middle of the wing. The hindwing is white, with grey coloring at its center and dark veins. Two named aberrations are noted: ab. ectypa Hbn. is the form where the reddish tints of the forewing are strongest, while in arcuata Stph., the hindwing bears a full row of dark dots along its veins.
