Myripristis leiognathus Valenciennes, 1846 is a species of fish that belongs to the family Holocentridae. It is native to the eastern Pacific Ocean, where its distribution extends from the Gulf of California to the coast of Ecuador, and also includes the Galapagos Islands, the Revillagigedo Islands, and Cocos Island. This is a reef-dwelling fish. During the day, it most often hides in caves and along rock ledges, and it feeds on crustaceans at night. The species is occasionally caught by fisheries and sold by fishmongers.
