Myrichthys xysturus is an eel that belongs to the family Ophichthidae, commonly known as worm or snake eels. It was first described by David Starr Jordan and Charles Henry Gilbert in 1882, and was originally classified under the genus Ophichthys. It is a marine, tropical eel. It is found in the eastern central Pacific Ocean, specifically in the Gulf of California, Baja California Sur (Mexico), and the Galapagos Islands.
