Myricaria germanica, commonly called the German tamarisk, is a flowering plant species belonging to the Tamaricaceae family. Its native range covers continental Europe (including Scandinavia), the Black Sea region, Iran, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. This species is an erect shrub that grows to a maximum height of 8 ft (2.4 m). It is a pioneer species adapted to grow on recently scoured riverbanks in mountainous areas. It has been cultivated in Great Britain since 1582.
