About Myriapora truncata (Pallas, 1766)

Myriapora truncata is a common bryozoan species that forms calcareous colonies in rocky habitats. It can be found from the water surface down to a depth of 60 meters. It has a bright red colour, which gives it the common name "False coral". Ecological research has found that M. truncata appears to be well able to tolerate the levels of ocean acidification predicted to occur over the next 200 years.
