About Myodocha serripes Olivier, 1811

Myodocha serripes, commonly known as the long-necked seed bug, is a species of dirt-colored seed bug belonging to the family Rhyparochromidae. This species is found in North America. As its common name suggests, this insect feeds on seeds. During hibernation, adult long-necked seed bugs hibernate either alone or in small groups, and migrate to fields in the spring. They are most active during autumn, though populations living in Florida do not hibernate at all. This species is considered a pest of strawberries.
