Scientific name: Myiagra alecto (Temminck, 1827). This is a long-tailed, slender songbird with a fine bill. Males are entirely glossy blue-black. Females have rich chestnut plumage on their upper body, white plumage on their lower body, and a black crown and face. In poor lighting, females may appear dark on their upper body. When identifying this species, it should be compared with the Restless flycatcher and Paperbark flycatcher. Its song is a clear whistled "towhit-too-towhit".
