About Mycetinis alliaceus (Jacq.) Earle ex A.W.Wilson & Desjardin
Mycetinis alliaceus (Jacq.) Earle ex A.W.Wilson & Desjardin has a cap 2–4 cm in diameter, colored beige, ochre, or flesh-coloured. The cap is sometimes wrinkled, and is somewhat domed in the center. Its gills are whitish, and narrowly attached to the stem. The spore print of this species is white. The tough, dark-coloured stem reaches up to 15 cm in height and up to 3 mm in diameter. The stem has a velvety, pruinose texture; it is black below, and may be brown near the top. This mushroom has a strong garlic taste and smell, which comes from the breakdown of γ-glutamyl-marismin. It grows in European woods, especially beech woods, from early summer to autumn, and fruits on fallen leaves and rotting wood.
