Description: This plant is known for its erect yellow pseudostems, which generally emerge in the second year of cultivation and can persist for several months. Just before opening, the yellow flower-like pseudostem resembles a lotus, which is the origin of one of this plant's common names. Distribution and habitat: Musella lasiocarpa is native to the Chinese provinces of Sichuan, Guizhou, and Yunnan. It grows at high elevations in the mountains of these regions, reaching up to 2500 m above sea level.
