Muricopsis cristata (Brocchi, 1814) is a species of mollusk with a shell that measures between 10 mm and 35 mm. Individuals of this species vary greatly in size, color, and overall morphology. Its whorls have a variable number of more or less prominent varices, which bear either foliaceous or spinose projections. This species has a well-developed siphonal canal, with a quite elongated siphon. This fairly common species is distributed across the Mediterranean Sea, the Atlantic Ocean off the coasts of Portugal, Morocco, and the Canary Islands, and the Red Sea.
