Muraena melanotis (Kaup, 1859), commonly called the honeycomb moray, is a species of moray eel. It reaches a maximum total length of around 1 metre. This eel is found in both the eastern and western Atlantic Ocean. In the eastern Atlantic, it lives along the African coast from Mauritania to Namibia; its range here also includes Cape Verde and the islands of the Gulf of Guinea. In the western Atlantic, it occurs in the Caribbean.
