About Mulloidichthys martinicus (Cuvier, 1829)

Mulloidichthys martinicus, commonly called the yellow goatfish or yellowsaddle, is a species of goatfish. This species is native to the Atlantic Ocean, found off the coasts of Africa and the Americas. It can also be found on reefs in tropical Pacific waters, in Atlantic waters around the United States, the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean Sea, and around Cape Verde. The maximum recorded total length of this species is 39.4 cm (15.5 in), and most individuals only grow to around 28 cm (11 in) long. Yellow goatfish are of minor importance to local commercial fisheries, but there are confirmed reports that this species can carry ciguatera toxin.
