About Mopalia hindsii (Reeve, 1847)

Mopalia hindsii, scientifically named Mopalia hindsii (Reeve, 1847), is a medium-sized chiton species that reaches a maximum length of 7 centimeters. It is most commonly found in intertidal zones, and unlike most intertidal chitons which have orange ventral sides, M. hindsii has a white ventral side. Mopalia hindsii has been recorded living along the Pacific coast of North America, from Southern California northward to Alaska. This species is most abundant in protected habitats, including shallow bays, areas underneath rocks, and shaded pilings.
