About Montipora digitata (Dana, 1846)

Montipora digitata forms colonies that are digitate or bushy, with vertically aligned, anastomosing branches. Colonies grow into hemispherical mounds that can reach 40 centimetres (16 inches) or more in diameter. The corallites of this species are small and deeply sunk into the skeleton, creating a pitted surface appearance. The coral is most often colored pale cream, pale yellow, or brown.
