About Monticola cinclorhynchus (Vigors, 1832)
Monticola cinclorhynchus, commonly known as the blue-capped rock thrush, has distinct plumage differences between males and females. Males have blue coloring on the head, chin, and throat. Their upper parts are a mix of blue and black, while the rump and underparts are chestnut brown. A white patch on the wing becomes visible when the bird is in flight. Females are mostly brown, with a brown-and-white patterned underside. This species breeds in dense forests located in the Himalayas. In winter, it migrates to the lowlands of southern India, and is primarily found across the Western Ghats and Eastern Ghats of this region during the winter season.
